HENRY TOEWS Henry Toews passed away at the Donwood Manor Personal Care Home on Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the age of 91 years. Henry was born on April 21, 1914 in Alexanderkrone, Molotschna, Russia. He was the third son of Heinrich and Katherine (nee Thiessen) Toews. In 1924 the family immigrated to Canada and settled on a farm at Arnaud, MB. After diligently helping on the family farm, he moved to work in Winnipeg in 1945. In June 1946 Henry was baptized at First Mennonite Church. He married Annie Klassen the same year. His employment days began at Monarch Machinery, and ended to become a retiree of The T. Eaton Company. They had one son, Reginald. In September 2003, Henry was the victim of a car/pedestrian accident, shattering both his legs, thereby causing him to be confined to a wheelchair. He is survived by his son Reginald, granddaughter Michelle of Calgary, brother Jacob Toews and his family, sister Susan Toews, all of Abottsford BC; sister-in-law Ira Toews; niece Gladys (Bruce) Blakley and family of Brandon. Henry was predeceased by his parents, his wife Anne and second wife Helen; brothers, Heinz, Eric and George. Memorial service will be held on Monday, July 25 at 11:00 a.m. at First Mennonite Church, 922 Notre Dame Ave. with Pastor Franz Wiebe officiating.
