JOSEPH JONIEC It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Joseph Joniec, beloved Father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather on Thursday, July 21, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. Joseph was predeceased by his mother and father; and his beloved wife Natalia. Left to cherish his memories are his daughter Frances (Joseph); and son Zenon; as well as his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Andy (Kim) (Logan and Breahna), Jeff (Paula) (Cassey and Lucas) and numerous friends and extended family in Poland, United States and Victoria, BC. Joseph was born in Poland in 1922 and immigrated to Canada in 1965 with his family to start a better life with his parents. He worked for Greb Shoes from 1965 until his retirement. After the untimely death of his wife Natalia, he moved from his home in West Kildonan to the Polish Manor on Selkirk Avenue. Joseph will be most remembered by all that knew him for his contagious smile, sense of humour and his peaceful contentment with life. Joseph had a love for music and was an avid violinist and trumpeter. He could often be heard singing a few bars of Polish songs on his daughter's answering machine. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the longtime family practitioner Dr. Krochak, the doctors and nurses at Health Sciences CancerCare Centre, Dr. Hamm, and all the nurses and staff of the 5th floor Unit 1 at Seven Oaks Hospital for all of their compassion and constant care.
