ROY L. FLANIGAN Peacefully on July 22, 2005 with his family at his side, Roy passed away at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg at the age of 100. He was predeceased by his wife Viola in 1998, son-in-law Bud Malcom, brother Harry Flanigan and his wife Pat, brother-in-law Al Johnson and his wife Sylvia. His memory will be forever cherished by his daughter Joan Malcom; son Doug (Carole); grandchildren, Karen Heron (Jim), Greig Malcom (Michelle), Barb Greggor (Brad) and Susan Malcom; Cathi Flanigan, John Flanigan; great-grandchildren, Les, Brett, Lisa, Matthew, Kevin, Ashlee, Malcom, Madyson; niece Shirley Leroy (Pat); and nephews, George Flanigan (Carol) and Jim Flanigan (Heather). Dad was born in London, ON in 1905 and moved to Tisdale, SK in 1912 and then came to Winnipeg in 1916. At age 19 he joined his father in business, soon becoming a partner in Geo. H. Flanigan and Sons Livestock Commission Agents where he became president after the passing of his father. He and his brother Harry continued the family business until his retirement in 1969. Roy was a life member and director of the Winnipeg Livestock Exchange where he served as president for five years. He was active in many clubs. At age 21, he joined the Free Masonry and was a life member of Fidelity Lodge, Prince of Wales Chapter PZ and King Edward Preceptory. He was a 50 year plus member of Khartum Temple Shriners and life member of the Director staff. He also enjoyed the outdoors particularly hunting, fishing and golfing. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children, in care of Khartum Temple, 1155 Wilkes Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3P 1B9 or a charity of your choice. A private family graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 26 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CREMATION AND RECEPTION CENTRE 885-9715
