ALBERT JAMES ADAIR
Born: Jun 17, 1919
Date of Passing: Jul 22, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALBERT JAMES ADAIR (BERT) June 17, 1919 - July 22, 2005 Peacefully, in his sleep, with his beloved wife and family at his side, our wonderful Dad and Papa, passed away on July 22, 2005. Bert will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by Pauline, his wife of 65 years; his son Danny (Gail) and daughter Dawn (Gerry Rauch); his grandchildren, Daran (Chantel), Tracy, Dana (Richard Terry), Tammy (Mike Terleski) and Candy (John). Papa will also be sadly missed by his great-grandchildren, Jackson and Logan Adair, Nathaniel, Christian and Samara Rauch, Keirra and Justice Terry, Ava Terleski and many nieces and nephews. Bert worked for the CNR throughout his career and retired as a well liked supervisor in 1979. He spent many happy summers puttering away at his cottage at West Hawk Lake and watching his grandchildren enjoy the things that he did for them. Bert loved people and his neighbours, with all becoming as extended family. They gathered frequently to socialize and enjoyed playing pranks on each other. Card games were a favourite and the men formed a weekly crib club. Several of his friends from the CNR organized a semi-annual golf tournament which continued for over 25 years. Bert enjoyed sports and was active for many years in bowling - first five pin, then ten pin and curling. In the recent past he followed his favourite sports on TV. Bert supported his community as a member of the Masonic Lodge, Transcona Memorial United Church Building Committee, and many years on the group committee for the first Transcona Boy Scouts. He had a great sense of humour which was enjoyed by all family and friends. This was a strong part of his personality which was active to the end. A special thanks is extended to the Home Care workers, who made his last days comfortable. Funeral service to be held on Wednesday, July 27 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. with Rev. Bill Blaikie officiating. Interment to follow at the Transcona Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends so wish, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
