Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHARKNESS WARNOCK BLACK November 2, 1910 - July 23, 2005 Harry Black, aged 94, passed away peacefully at Rosewood Lodge on July 23, 2005. He is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Clara; and his daughter Ruth (Tony); grandchildren, Patrick (Nam), Heather (George), Russell (Jen), Jason, Kristy (Marc); great-grandchildren, Amy, Tayler, William, Aimee, Briggette and Jessie; Clara's nephew Ron and Anne Greening along with their family, Harry's two nephews in Ireland, Gordon and Wilfred Lyttle and their family. Harry was predeceased by his first wife Jean Black; daughters, Kathleen McArthur and Maureen McFee; sister Emeline Lyttle (and spouse); brother Harold Black. Harry was born and raised in Donegal, Ireland, then came to Canada in 1930. Harry served with the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry from 1931 to 1937. In 1938 he began his career as a prison guard for Stony Mountain Penitentiary where he worked for 32 years and retired as Assistant Warden. Harry was also involved in the community and church and was a member of the Masonic Temple, also a life time member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Harry was married in 1939 to his first wife Jean, they had three beautiful daughters, Kathleen, Maureen and Ruth. In 1974 Jean passed away of a stroke. Harry married his second wife Clara in 1976. Harry and Clara spent many wonderful years together travelling, camping and enjoying their lives together. They truly loved one another. Harry also enjoyed gardening, barbecues with family and friends in the backyard, he enjoyed singing and spending time with his children, grandchildren and the many friends Harry made throughout his life. We will all miss Harry with his booming voice, cheerful personality and his warm Irish smile. A service to celebrate Harry's life will be held on Wednesday, July 27 at Christ Church (Anglican) Stony Mountain at 11:00 a.m. The family would like to thank all his friends and staff at Rosewood Lodge for all their support. If friends desire, donations can be made in Harry's name to the Alzheimer's Society. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.

Dear Clara and family - please accept our condolences on Harry's passing. He was a very warm and colourful man which made him easy to love.
