ALEX PETRYSHYN Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, on Monday morning, July 25, 2005 at Seven Oaks Hospital, Alex Petryshyn, beloved husband of Tekla Szczerba Petryshyn. Born August 25, 1923 in Rosilna, Ivano-Frankivsk oblast, Western Ukraine to Maria and Ivan Petryshyn. While still a young man, the Second World War forced Alex to leave his beloved Ukraine. After the War, Alex made his way to England and finally to Canada in 1950 like so many of his countrymen. Alex lived in Ontario, BC and finally resided in Winnipeg, marrying Tekla in 1994. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Tekla; her children, Roman (Connie), Rosemary (Walter) and Vera (Glenn); Tekla's grandchildren, Stephen, Tasha and Taras. Alex was devoted to his family. We are grateful for the joyful time we shared with him and will forever cherish his kind and loving spirit. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers and sister, as well as his first wife Alice Rose. Panakhyka will be sung 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 27 at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, 115 McGregor St. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 28, also at the Cathedral with Fr. M. Kouts officiating. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. Komenda and his staff for the care provided to Alex over the years. Jesus Jesus is the light, my life, Jesus is my zest in leisure, Jesus is my strength in strife, Jesus is my rest in leisure, Jesus is my peace in pain, Jesus is my ease in strain, Always, always, day and night, Jesus is my heart's delight.
