WILLIAM HENRY (HARRY) GRISS On July 25, 2005, after a lengthy battle with cancer, Harry passed away in his home surrounded by his family. He was 79. Harry will be greatly missed by Eileen, his wife of 50 years; son Paul Griss and his wife Melanie Watt; daughter Sue Joyal and her husband Louis; and grandchildren, Trevor and Todd Joyal and Graeme and Colin Griss. Born in Sunderland, England, Harry proudly served for 15 years as a radio operator and engineer with the British Merchant Navy. He liked to say he visited every country in the world with a seaport except Finland. In 1967, the family immigrated to Canada choosing Winnipeg as their new home. Harry was employed by Air Canada, CAE, Flyer Industries and the Rh Institute, from which he retired in 1988. Harry enjoyed weekends at the trailer in Gimli, bowling and travelling, especially cruises which allowed him to put out to sea once more. Cremation has already taken place. Friends who would like to celebrate his life are invited to gather from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29 at the Quality Inn, 635 Pembina Hwy. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Maxwell, Astrid and the other oncology staff of Victoria General Hospital for their years of caring and support. We are also greatly thankful to Dr. Wong and his staff at St. Boniface Hospital and to Mary Ashcroft and the doctors, nurses and home care workers of Palliative Care who provided tremendous assistance in the final months of Harry's life. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Victoria General Hospital Foundation in care of the oncology department, 2340 Pembina Hwy., R3T 2E8 or to the WRHA Palliative Care Fund, A8024-409 Tache Avenue, R2H 2A6. Arrangements entrusted to: VOYAGE FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 1531 Pembina Hwy. 284-7500
