JOAN MARION JOHNSON (nee KERCHIN) After a brief illness Joan Marion Johnson (nee Kerchin) passed on July 24, 2005 in Lions Gate Hospital at the age of 62. Joan was born and raised in Winnipeg, and moved with her family to Toronto, then Vancouver. Strong family values were most important to Joan and throughout her life she remained devoted to her family and many friends. She loved being a Mom and a Grandma, and took special delight in her new granddaughter, Ella. Joan touched the lives of many with her caring, loving nature, and in her very gracious way was open and accepting of all. Her advice was Be kind . Joan's people skills were her strongest asset throughout her career. Joan had a love for singing, the beach, her pets, socializing with friends and family, and travelling. She is survived by her husband Ken, and their family - Colleen; Sean, Jill, and Ella; Scott and Rebecca; Brian; and her brother Ken. Joan was predeceased by son Cameron and her parents, Connie and Mickey. She will be sadly missed by all whose lives she touched. A service in Joan's honour will be held Friday, July 29 at 2:00 p.m. at North Lonsdale United Church, with Rev. Robin Jacobson officiating. A gathering in Winnipeg in mid-August is also being planned to celebrate Joan's life. In lieu of flowers, friends may choose to donate to BCCA in Joan's memory. Many thanks to the very special doctors, nurses, and staff at VGH and Lions Gate who attended to Joan and cared so much. Your smile is like the rising sun, beauty filled with life, time just begun.
