C. DOUGLAS INMAN It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of our husband and dad, C. Douglas Inman, after a sudden illness at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg on Monday, July 25, 2005. Douglas was born February 5, 1925 in Wilkinsburg, PA to the late Winifred and Harry Inman. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Vera (nee Onhauser); daughters, Linda (John) McDermid of Niagara On The Lake, Sandy (Jim) Mitchell and children of Calgary; son Rob of Winnipeg; also sister Mae Hughes of British Columbia. Douglas was predeceased by sister Eleanor Collins and brother Norman (Mary). He attended Laura Secord School where he met his companion for life, Vera in grade two and enjoyed 60 years of marriage. He went on to attend Gordon Bell High School. Doug interrupted his university education to enter the American Air Force. During the 1950 flood, Doug remained to work at the Central Transportation and Communications Headquarters in Winnipeg and at night worked on the dikes. He was involved in the family company, Inman Motors, which he was associated with for 30 years. Doug was also very active with the United Church in St. Vital and later Fort Garry with fundraising and volunteer work. For many years he was a member of the Wildewood Club. After retirement, Doug and Vera enjoyed many winter holidays to the south and vacations overseas. Of all his favourite places the cottage he built himself in Kenora, gave him peace and satisfaction; it will be forever filled with his presence. A man of enormous strength, silent faith and intense loyalty to family, Doug was one of the kindest and caring persons around. He was a very private man with gentle ways. We remember him for his sense of humour and his ability to bravely cope with all his illnesses. He will be greatly missed. Our family wishes to express our heartfelt appreciation to the staff of MICU and GD4 at the Health Sciences Centre, for their kindness and tenderness to Doug and also to our family. In lieu of flowers, Doug would be pleased to know that those who wish could contribute to the Manitoba Cancer Society or the Kenora District Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date. You were an amazing man and we are all so proud of you. THOMSON FUNERAL HOME 669 Broadway - 783-7211
