ELAINE GESSNER Elaine Gessner passed peacefully into God's heavenly arms on July 28, 2005 after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. She was married to Jim for 31 and a half wonderful years. He was her best friend and love of her life. They were blessed with three amazing children, Jody (Joey) Harris of Brandon, MB, Shauna, and John (Meaghan). She was especially blessed to have a wonderful mother-in-law, Betty Gessner and father-in-law John who passed away in 1979. Elaine had a very special relationship with her sister-in-law, Rosemarie (Ray) Briere of Edmonton and their children, Greg (Kathy), Cheryl (Joe), Charlene (Garth), and great-nieces, Cassie, Carly, and Lindsey. She also had a special relationship with her brother Gerald (Glenda) Stark. She was a full time mother until 1987, when she returned to school, graduating in 1989 from Health Sciences Centre as a R.N. She was employed at Concordia Hospital where she worked on the surgical ward and during the last number of years in the Oncology Unit. It was here that she felt she found her calling. She felt it was the best job in the world. Elaine hoped she made a difference for people in their cancer care journey. Elaine especially enjoyed her summers at the family cottage in Matlock, MB, where they went for some R R. She also enjoyed and loved her work at the church as Sunday School Superintendent, Teacher, and member of the LWML. Elaine enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens, singing in the church choir, and her daily walks through nature. Elaine is especially thankful to the following; the church family for all their prayers, and encouragement, her forever friends Heidi, Jan, and Marilyn for their love, care, and support, Yvette and Carolyn for their understanding love and support, Laineys' girls at Concordia Oncology, Dr. Pat Harris, Seven Oaks Oncology Team, Dr. J. Lezack, Dr. Taraska, and Dr. Sisler. A special thanks to the Palliative Care nursing staff at Riverview for their excellent care and support during Elaine's final days. She wanted to give a special God Bless to Paster Brad Schollenberg for his uplifting words of support. We as a family have been very blessed to have Elaine in our lives as a wife and friend and the BEST MOTHER in the world. We are all better people for having her in our lives and will cherish her memory forever! Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 1, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 350 Gilmore Ave. with Pastor Brad Schollenberg officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made Elaine's memory to Peace Lutheran Church. LOVE YOU! Jim, Jody, Shauna, and John CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

Elaine is sadly missed and very much loved by her extended family in Saskatchewan. Elaine was a pillar of strength and love to all that knew her. I will alway remember the wonderful visit on the shores of Katewpa just last summer when she so bravely travelled down to visit family. I hope you enjoyed your air balloon ride. We love you very much Jim, Jody, Shauna and John all the best. Special wishes to Aunt Betty. - Posted by: Denise Peter (Family) on: Jul 29, 2005
