Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARY ELIZABETH (BETTY) SHIELS 1924 - 2005 Peacefully on July 27, 2005 Betty passed away at West Park Manor. Betty Shiels was born in Cardiganshire, Wales. When she was growing up in South Wales, Betty had a wonderful voice and sang in many competitions. Her love of music would stay with her throughout her life. In the fall of 1942, she met the love of her life, a young Canadian soldier named George Shiels. Although Betty had many trials over her lifetime, she never complained. Her children always came first and she would often do without for them. She was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by everyone. Rest in peace, Betty. Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husband George, and sons, David and Bill. She is survived by her children, Rosemarie (Bud) Carriere of Portage la Prairie; Dan (Judy) Shiels of Winnipeg with children, Jennifer and Tracy; Patty (Chris) Switzer of Winnipeg with children, Paul and Tricia (Dwight) and grandchildren, Mason and Bradey; Gareth (Dawn) Shiels of Winnipeg with children, Alun, Micheal (Katie) and Mandy; Lynda (Conway) Pauls with children, Conway Jr. and Ashley. Betty is also survived by her sisters, Ray (Alun) Morrall and Vi Jenkins, and her brother Dewi (Jeanette) Jones, all of England. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters-in-law, Olive Gannon, Doris Blackwell, Mary Shiels and Lenore Shiels and brother-in-law Mel (Greta) Shiels. Betty will also be sadly missed by many other friends, nieces, and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at West Park Manor for their love and care shown to mom. Cremation has taken place. Interment of ashes will follow in Napinka, MB on September 24, 2005. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to West Park Manor, 3199 Grant Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3R 1X2.
