ENA MCRAE RUSSELL (nee CAMPBELL) December 1, 1909 - July 23, 2005 Ena Russell, widow of Harold John, died peacefully in her sleep Saturday, July 23, at the age of 95. Besides her loving husband, she was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Kathleen Campbell; brothers, Joe, Ian and Alec; niece Audrey; several brothers and sisters-in-law; and cherished granddaughter Sharon. Mom is survived by daughters, Patricia Russell and Frances Russell (Spence); grandchildren, Shaun, Sandra (Joe), Greg and Kathleen (Rodney); great-grandchildren, Angela, Cassandra, Ariel, Aiden, Hayley, Ian and Rebecca. Mom is also survived by her loving sister Kay Herring of Vancouver; nephews, Walter and Leslie (Wendy) Herring and family, Ken Campbell; cousins in Scotland, sister-in-law Jane Russell and family and other nieces and nephews of the Russell and Campbell clans. Mom was born in Glasgow, Scotland and came to Canada at age three. She grew up in Elmwood and went to Lord Selkirk School. After high school she attended Business College. She was an administrative assistant in private industry for many years. Mom and Dad were married June 22, 1934 at King Memorial United Church. They shared many common interests and had 56 fulfilling years together. Throughout her long life Mom volunteered in her community, enjoyed nature, gardening, golf, tennis, bowling and was an avid bridge player. She was a creative seamstress and an excellent cook who lovingly prepared family dinners until just a few years ago. A self educator, her passion was reading. A few good books to read and I'm happy , was her motto. Philosophical in nature, intuitive and introspective, she was a genuine listener and loving wise counsellor. Mom's health began to deteriorate early this year. Sincere thanks to the staff at Kildonan House and the Home Care attendants (especially Audrey and Cecilia) for helping Mom remain independent as long as possible. Heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Kildonan Personal Care Centre for giving Mom a measure of peace during her last two weeks of life. The care and compassion shown to her has made it easier for our family to accept our loss. A service to celebrate Mom's life will be held Thursday, August 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Klassen Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Hatherly officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association or an organization of choice would be appreciated. Beloved Mom, Grandma and cherished friend, you are a Class Act. Thank you for your loving guidance and selfless acts throughout our lives. Adieu, lovely lady - forever loved, never forgotten KLASSEN FUNERAL HOME 1897 Henderson - North of McIvor - 338-0331
