CHARLES ABELLS It is with sorrow we announce the passing of Charles Abells, born April 2, 1926 in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his brothers, Harold and Bill Abells and sister, Rose Sarbit. He is survived by his children, Jerry (Gayla) Abells, and Marla (Michael) Segal; grandchildren, Bradley, Harlan, Ryan, Julia, Ashley, and Brooke; and sister Claire Shindleman. Charlie was our friend, uncle, father and grandfather. His humour and quick wit will be missed greatly. He taught us to be kind, study and work hard for our goals, and to help our fellow man. When asked for help, he would drop everything to lend his hand, especially for his children. He was modest of his accomplishments as soldier, pilot and businessman but was never at a loss for words when bragging about Marla, Jerry or his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his friends at the Rady Centre where he loved to talk about current events. Charlie's family wants to extend our deep appreciation to Dr. P. Czaykowski and all the team members on B3 at Health Sciences Centre involved in his care. Funeral services were held at the Rosh Pina Memorial Park on July 24, 2005. Pallbearers were Robert Shindleman, Sandy Shindleman, Danny Shindleman, Robert Abells, Jay Sarbit, and Mitch Johnston. Donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba or a charity of your choice.
