Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELEANOR PATSCHA (nee SCHROFEL) February 12, 1937 - July 24, 2005 Our beloved mother and sister has passed away. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Norbert; parents, Henry and Catherine Schrofel; and baby brother Larry. She leaves to mourn her two sons, Mark (Tamara) and Glenn; her brother Dennis (Suzanne) Schrofel (nephews, John, Robert, and Jim); sister Brenda (John) Miller (nephew Brian and niece Angie). Eleanor was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the North End, attending St. Joseph's School on College Avenue. She married Norbert in 1958 and lived most of her life in Windsor Park and Southdale. She was a dedicated wife and mother who focussed her energies on her home and family. Eleanor was a natural musician and her talent for and love of music was passed on to Glenn who is a professional musician in New York, just as Mark carried on in his Dad's footsteps in the construction business. Her extended family will remember her for the many family dinners and Christmas Eves hosted at her home and for evening visits with coffee and snacks at Auntie Eleanor's place. During good times, she travelled with Norbert to Hawaii, the Cayman Islands, and through Europe and the United States. She treasured these experiences as well as her fond memories of summer vacations at Lester Beach. In the trying times of recent years when she coped with physical pain and other worries, she never lost her faith in God and never stopped caring about her family. Even in bad times, we saw glimmers of her sense of humour. What could we have done We loved you but lost you still Only a sister, a mother, and a wife Only a painful and shortened life But death has a way of focussing the lens Through which we view and measure the whole You knew great love You knew the loyalty of family and friends You revelled in the beauty of a sunset You treasured the smallest gift And you gave when you had little to give You prayed that Jesus would be with you And, of course, He is Now your spirit soars and you are released Beautiful, free of pain, free of sorrow A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 3, 1:30 p.m. at St. Bernadette Parish on Cottonwood Dr. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Children's Wish Foundation.
