JOHN TRACH Peacefully on Saturday, July 30, 2005 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, John beloved husband of Mary, father, Gigi, and Great Gigi passed away at the age of 87 years. Besides his wife Mary, he is survived by his daughter Laurie Walus (Ken); son Larry Trach (Doreen, nee Halldorson); five grandchildren Ashley and Collin Walus, Tracy Woodard (Brad), Jaime Zulyniak (Anthony), Kim Shumsky (Shane); two great-grandchildren Anna and Justin Woodard. He also leaves to mourn his passing his brother Steve and wife Phyllis Trach, brother-in-law Joe Tymchen, sister-in-law Ann Trach, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Nick and Olga Huminicki, Pearl and Walter Senick, Doreen Musick and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Mary Trach, sister Jean Tymchen, brother Bill Trach and two infant children. A dear dear man has been taken from us to meet his Lord and Saviour. Born in Komarno, MB. John was born of immigrant parents Fred and Mary Trach (nee Paluk). He resided on the family homestead east of Komarno for the most part of his first 30 years. He travelled across Manitoba with his good buddy Steve Demery as hired hands for harvesting to earn money. He also worked in the mines in Northern Ontario for a short time before returning to Komarno. Upon his return from the mines he met the girl of his dreams Mary Huminicki of Winnipeg. Beach. They married in October of 1949, and set up a home in Pleasant Home, a hamlet between Komarno and Winnipeg Beach. They farmed and owned the General Store for seven years and eventually moved to Winnipeg to look for work. John worked at a few jobs, was laid off and went to school to get his boilermaker papers. He eventually landed a job with CPR as a carman where his brother Steve worked. He and Mary bought a home in West Kildonan where they lived for many years. He was always very supportive of his children and extended family. During these times John continued to work at CPR (26 years) and maintained his hobby farm in Pleasant Home. John retired in 1981 and focused on spoiling his grandchildren. He only had to hear please Gigi and they were off for ice cream, or any other adventure. He became a chauffeur, driving his grandchildren from activity to activity, being the head cheerleader at softball games, the list goes on and on. His most precious moments in life were spent with his family at gatherings and with his grandchildren. Eventually, his Alzheimers' and diabetes took their toll but John kept fighting. After numerous recent hospital stays he succumbed to pneumonia and complications from his diabetes. He will be remembered by all of us whose lives he touched, as a kind man with a great sense of humour and a twinkle in his eye for the ladies, (when Baba wasn't watching of course). He would want us all to remember him as the vibrant man he was and not dwell on his last few years but celebrate his good years and his very full life. In loving memory, God have mercy on his soul, Amen. The family would like to thank Dr. Babick, Dr. Gorski, the staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital, Concordia General Hospital, Holy Family Nursing Home and especially the staff on the fifth floor of Holy Family, John's home for the past seven years. Their tender care was amazing and very much appreciated by Johnny and his family. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 10 - 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB. R3C 4G2 or The Canadian Diabetes Association 102 - 310 Broadway Ave. Winnipeg, MB. R3C 0S6 in lieu of flowers.
