In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, Our hearts were almost broken As you fought so hard to stay; But when we saw you sleeping So peaceful and free of pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again. So when we're sad and lonely And everything goes wrong We know we'll hear a whisper, Cheer up and carry on. Each time we see your picture You seem to smile and say, Don't cry I'm only sleeping We'll meet again some day.
