MARIA MCDONALD Peacefully, on Friday, July 29, 2005, after a courageous battle with C.O.P.D., and surrounded by the love and warmth of her family, Mom's spirit was set free. Mom was born on May 12, 1919 in Kinley, SK, the first of six children. Following her father's job, the family lived in several towns in Saskatchewan, with longer stays in Saskatoon and Prince Albert. She began her lifelong love of art and writing at a very young age and leaves a huge legacy of paintings, drawings and a great deal of writing. Mom loved everybody and that love was returned tenfold. Many of our friends considered her as their second mother. She worked at Eaton's and at Sears and other retail stores for many years and therefore met a large variety of people. She was interested in everyone she met and the more different they were from her, the more she wanted to know all about them. Her favourite time of year was always Folklorama and she would start the countdown in early spring. Mom could have been an ambassador for the whole world. At the Rainbow Bridge there will be a large crowd of our pets who have passed on, waiting to greet her. Mom loved animals very much and they always sensed that. She had a great affinity for eagles and her spirit is now soaring with them. Mom was predeceased by her parents; brother Fred; and Jack, the love of her life. She leaves to mourn her passing her daughters, who she always called her treasures, Lillian Hildebrand (Wayne) and Cathy Gilmore (Brian); sisters, Ruth Peekhaus (Heinz, deceased), Betty and Fran Mosher (Bill); brother Bob and many relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the ICU nurses and doctors at the Grace Hospital and Seven Oaks Hospital for all their wonderful care and compassion. You were all wonderful to both Mom and us. Funeral service 1:00 p.m. Friday, August 5 at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook St. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME CREMATORIUM 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca
