JOHANNA (HANNA) CHRISTINA HOLTMANN (nee WESTERLEMKE) Died peacefully in her 98th year August 1, 2005, in St. Anne, MB. Born May 29, 1907 in Oelde, Westfalia, Germany. She came to Canada as the bride of Heinrich Holtmann in 1933, to become a farmer's wife on the prairies. Oma, as she was lovingly known by all, will be remembered as an unfailingly warm, generous and kind women, whose faith was integral to her life. Her endearing gift to her family was not only her caring and generosity, she also shared her love of reading, poetry, and music, especially Opera, never missing Saturday afternoon at the opera on radio. She had an unwavering support of all farm activities, not only by having a garden that flourished; providing hearty meals daily for a large family and hosting all who came to the farm with her homemade breads, jams and tortes. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren all were recipients of made by Oma afghans, sweaters, socks, baby blankets and stitched pictures. In the course of her rich full life, Oma loved and touched the lives of many. She takes with her the love and gratitude of all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband Heinrich; son Theodore (Theo); three sisters in Germany; daughter-in-law Lorraine; and son-in-law Arthur Demasson. She is survived by her brother Heinrich Westerlemke, Germany; daughter-in-law Christel; three daughters, Hansie Demasson, Erika Wehrle (Ernie), Trudy Hemstad (Norm); and four sons, Helmut, Wilfried, Felix (Eveline), John (Mary-Jane); 32 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Pauline Phaneuf and the Ste. Anne Home Care staff. Prayer vigil for Johanna will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, on Friday, August 5 at 7:00 p.m., Fr.
