FREDA MELANSON (nee BORKOFSKY) August 10, 1936 - August 1, 2005 Peacefully in her sleep, on August 1, 2005, Freda passed away at the age of 68. Freda will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 48 years, Larry; daughter Penny (Brian) Paley; grandchildren, Brian (Rochelle), and Jennifer (Trevor) Besyk. Freda will also be missed by her brothers, Louis (Edna), Gus (Barbara), Adolphe, Bob (Lorraine), Joe (Bernice); and sisters, Martha and Erna. She was predeceased by brothers, Johnny, Edward and Bill; sisters, Annie, Ida, Bertha, and Molly. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Freda was born and grew up in the Russell area, as a young lady she moved to Winnipeg where she met her husband Larry. She worked in homecare and ran a restaurant in the Elmwood area. Freda enjoyed gardening, bingo, making perogies for her family and weekly visits from Penny and Brian. Freda had a great sense of humour, was very generous and was proud of her grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 4 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave., with interment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Freda's name may be made to Manitoba Lung Association, 629 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3L 0K6.
