LINDA MARIE MAYTWAYASHING July 2, 1957 - July 31, 2005 On July 31, 2005 at the Health Sciences Centre, Linda Marie Maytwayashing, aged 48 years of Lake Manitoba First Nation. Marie was born on July 2, 1957 in Eriksdale, MB. She was raised on the Lake Manitoba Reserve until the age of 16 when she moved to Winnipeg with the rest of her family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She loved playing bingo, berry picking and gathering Seneca root. She loved listening to fiddling tunes and old classic country music and stopping in at the weekend yard sales. Despite her illness, Marie lived life to the fullest and always had a smile on her face. In her passing Marie leaves to mourn and will be sadly missed by her sons, Virgil and friend Joyce, Dennis, Ernie; daughters, Daisy and friend Gregory, Ruth and friend Mike, Rita and friend Kathy; and special granddaughter who Marie raised since infancy Meagan; and one Godchild Melanie Joy Malcolm. Maire also leaves seven grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Alyssa, Justin, Jasmine, Thomas Jr., Breanna, Mercedes and Camaro. Also left to cherish her memory is her mother Elizabeth Isabel Maytwayashing whom Marie cared for over many years; father Elzear Maytwayashing; brothers, Clemence (Rose) Paul, Larry (Donna) Maytwayashing; and sister Alma (Hector) Maytwayashing; and special sister-in-law Georgina Beaulieu. Aunty as she was affectionately known, also leaves to cherish her memory her nieces, Lillian, Elaine, Mary Jane, Susan, Bonnie, Melanie, Sheila, Crystal and Robin; nephews, Douglas, Christopher, Sam, Robert, Conan and their families; aunts, Clara, Evelyn and Florence; uncles, Leslie, Walter and Stanley; and numerous cousins from the Choken, Paul, Edwards, Spence, Maytwayashing, Hanslip, Desjarlais and Swan families. Wake services will be held on Wednesday, August 3 and Thursday, August 4 at 7:00 p.m. at Daisy Maytwayashing's residence on Lake Manitoba First Nation. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 5 at 2:00 p.m. in the Lake Manitoba School Gymnasium with Louisa Bremner officiating. Interment to follow in the Lake Manitoba Reserve Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Douglas Paul, Elmer Maytwayashing, Vernon Paul, Jerry McIvor, Bill Paul and Cecil Choken. Honorary Pallbearers will be all her cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, Godchild, friends and grandchildren. Special thanks to Dr. Robinson, doctors and nurses at the Health Sciences Centre Ward GA-4. Thank you to the Lake Manitoba Chief and Council and to all who donated to the Maytwayashing family and all the community people for their support, donations and guidance during this difficult time.
