MISS GRACE (GRETA) MARGARET LAWSON Miss Grace (Greta) Margaret Lawson passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 at the Victoria General Hospital. Born November 21, 1907 in Manchester England, Grace moved to Canada at the age of three with her parents Isabella Cameron Lawson and John David Lawson and her brother Norman J. Lawson. Grace was a 5 ft. 2 bundle of vibrant health, keen intellect and mischievous wit. She lived independently and self sufficiently for most of her 97 years, working until the age of 72. She was employed as a secretary at Akins, Loftus, Macaulay, Thompson and Trischler from 1929 to 1947 and served as a secretary to the General Manager at Robinson Little Co. from 1947 to 1950 returning in 1952, completing her career in 1977. Her employers spoke glowingly of her work excellent stenographer , pleasant personality , absolutely efficient , and utterly trustworthy . Grace loved to travel, especially to Scotland where her heart and soul were nurtured as much by her relatives as the history and scenery. She treasured memories as well as the friends she made on her travels to Switzerland, Paris, the Maritimes and the New England states. Grace was a long term member of Elim Chapel and an active member of the Spice of Life Group. She spoke of the sustaining nature of her faith and friendships. She especially appreciated the sense of humour and spiritual guidance offered by Dr. Ed Hughes. A gracious hostess, Grace enjoyed entertaining friends and family always setting a beautiful table. She treasured her relationship and frequent visits with Pat Dyer, whom she considered as a daughter. Grace nurtured friendships with people throughout her life. Friends that she especially enjoyed and was a frequent guest of their hospitality included Ruth and Elmer Gill, Marion and Fred Hill, Helen Hill, Isabelle Bomphray and Della Ealey. Grace will be mourned by so many friends and her only surviving relative, Hutch Lawson and wife Nancy. Please join us for a celebration of Grace's life at Thomson Funeral Chapel, 669 Broadway, Friday, August 5 at 10:30 a.m.
