INANDA REMPEL Peacefully on August 1, 2005, at the Douglas Campbell Lodge, Portage la Prairie, Inanda Rempel passed into the presence of the Lord, at the age of 87 years. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 9 at 3:00 p.m. in the Assiniboia-Charleswood Community Church, 760 Charleswood Rd., Winnipeg with reception to follow in the church. Private interment will be in the family plot at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Portage la Prairie. Inanda was born at Spalding, SK, daughter of the late Matthew and Emma Halverson. She grew up and received her education in the Melfort area where she also worked for a time. As a young woman, she moved to Portage la Prairie, where she worked as a seamstress at the Delta Apparel clothing factory. While living in Portage she met Erdman (Ed) Rempel and they were marred in 1944. For many years Inanda and Ed lived at Fortier, MB, where they successfully operated a dairy. During that time they were active members for the Fortier Gospel Chapel, with their home and hearts always open to the young people and travelling evangelists. More recently Inanda enjoyed 15 years of good fellowship at Assiniboia-Charleswood Community Church. For the past ten years, Inanda enjoyed her residence at The Westhaven in Winnipeg where she made many friends, and as she was able, she participated in the activities and functions. She also enjoyed travelling abroad with her daughters. Her plants and flowers brought her much enjoyment, and the hours spent watching her grandchildren participate in sports events were very special times. Predeceased by her husband Ed in 1981; her brothers, Merit, Willard, Tony, Angelo and Phillip; and her one sister Cora Davies, Inanda is survived by two daughters, Shirley and her husband Don Shapansky and Judith and her husband Nick Orr; one son Keith and his wife Janice Rempel; four grandchildren, Chad (Kelly) Orr and great-grandson Ethan, Scott (Erin) Orr, Haylee Rempel and Colin Rempel, and adopted daughter Suzzanne. Also one sister Noreen Breekvelt; brother-in-law Bill (Mary) Rempel; sisters-in-law, Helen Hildebrand, Minne Halverson and Vivian Rempel and numerous nieces and nephews. The family wish to express their sincere and heartfelt appreciation to the entire staff at the Douglas Campell Lodge for the warm welcome and loving care their mom received while living there. If friends so desire, memorial donations to Assiniboia-Charleswood Community Church, 760 Charleswood Rd., Winnipeg, MB, or World Vision Canada, 1 World Place, Mississauga, ON L5T 2Y4 or Douglas Campbell Lodge Foundation, 150 Ninth St. S.E., Portage la Prairie, MB would be appreciated.
