Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLLOYD RAYMOND NIELSEN Lloyd Raymond Nielsen, born on March 27, 1919, died peacefully on the evening of May 5, 2004, in the Victoria Hospice, surrounded by those who loved him. Born in McDowell SK, Lloyd married Helen Wipf of Langham, SK and moved to Winnipeg. There they raised two sons, Barry and Ken. After many years of working with the Manitoba telephone company, Lloyd and Helen retired to their beloved homestead at Muriel Lake in Ontario. There they shared many wonderful years together joined often by their grandchildren, Justin, Jodie, Cory, Jennifer (Lil' Sweetie), Jamie and Jeff, who would spend all summers and winter holidays enjoying long days on the lake, and evening entertainment around the campfire. Together Lloyd and Helen moved to Victoria to remain close to the family they both cherished. After Helen passed away, Lloyd then met the woman who would share the rest of his days, Irene Mooney. Together, they travelled and enjoyed life to the fullest, and were together until the end. Thank you Irene, it was your love that gave Gramps the strength to carry on and give us more years of enriching memories. Lloyd was an avid traveler To travel is to live and to live is to lust setting foot on every continent, and a proud Canadian, who served in the military in his early years. He was also a firm believer in knowing your family heritage and traced his bloodline back to Denmark where he found long forgotten relatives and established lasting friendships around the world. Lloyd will be buried on Saturday, August 13 at 1:00 p.m. at Emmanuel Church, Langham, SK. A luncheon will served at the chapel following the service. Everyone is welcome. Contact the family for more information. This is one last poem For a man we've known And learnt much from over the years Together we drove many a mile And sung many a song And drank our fair share of beers His passing has left us missing An important figure in our lives But I know that he's wishing That none of us starts to cry He lived his life with passion and pride, Travelled the globe far and wide He loved us all, as did we in return And taught all of those who were willing to learn Toothpicks, Denmark, scotch and rye, Homesteads, prairies, and evening bike rides You answered all our questions with wit and guile, Except of course who was behind the wood pile. Your memories will live with us forever gramps, I love you and miss you
