MAUREEN SEIER (nee ELLARD) March 31, 1939 - July 31, 2005 On July 31, 2005 Maureen Seier passed away. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 44 years Richard; her children, Lois (Richard Fraser), James (Terri Thevenot, Jamie and Joey) and Ken; as well as her grandchildren, Cameron, Kirsty and Cortni. Her memory will also be cherished by her many relatives and friends whom she referred to as her extended family. Our mother's life was about passion - highly protective and devoted to her husband, children, grandchildren, family and friends. Her life's list of accomplishments are vast and varied. She put 110 percent into every task she did. She always amazed us with her talents and abashed us with her stubbornness. The word can't was not in her personal dictionary, sometimes to the detriment of those who were foolish enough to challenge her. Hard work, dedication, perseverance and natural ability allowed her to master any project she took on. Her endeavours included a successful amateur golfing career, winning several tournaments and Club Championships and dominating the Portage Ladies' Left-Handers Championship for a number of years. Her eye for colour, proportion and love of beauty drove her to complete several works of art of her own with her petit-point skills. Her mother earth qualities enabled her to create beautiful garden landscapes of flowers, smells and colours for all to enjoy. Her ability to read and understand the minds of canines elevated her and others to the highest level both in the show ring and on the Schutzhund field, with her achieving a rare feat along the way, producing Seiger and Seigerin as well as top Schutzhund 3 in her career. She was an accomplished ballroom dance teacher (meeting the man who would forever refer to her as My Bride ) enjoying the Dance Club windups - putting on a phenomenal show, doing everything from the costumes to the choreography to getting the volunteers to dance in the show. She had a love of music that ranged from everything to Placido Domingo to ABBA to Willy Nelson and more. She had a heart of gold and would always help out anyone in need. Our house became the Do drop in centre , always open arms, teenagers welcome, hugs and kisses for free. Mom loved cooking for her family and friends - she loved the dinner party and boy what a meal she could create! Many lively discussions were had over the supper table throughout the years, and these produced some of our most unforgettable memories. She knew what she wanted, she knew what was right and wrong, and she made sure we knew it as well. Never cross a farm girl with attitude that has the pipes to back it up. As per Maureen's wishes, cremation with no funeral service has taken place and she is in her niche with a few of her favourite things. A celebration of her life will be held in a few months - it's what she wanted and she always gets what she wants. Flowers are respectfully declined. A donation in her memory can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. P.S. This is a message to Heaven: When Maureen tells you to close your stance, alter your grip and follow through ... just do it ... she's probably right. Yours very respectfully, Richard, Lois, James and Ken
