JOHN LAWRENCE (JACK) CAMPBELL With deep sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of John on Sunday, July 31, 2005 at Deer Lodge Hospital. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Sophie, in 1976. John will be deeply missed by his son Wayne (special friend, Marcey); daughter Carol (Andy); daughter Gail (Larry); grandchildren Clayton, Tracey, Darren, Kyle; great grandchildren Blair, Brendan; brother Alex and sister Dolly. Dad was born on November 14, 1914 in Ulverston, England. He came to Winnipeg in 1919 and married mom in 1942. He worked hard all his life by labouring in Sandilands bush camps as a teenager, delivering groceries by bicycle as a young adult, working for the C.P.R. from 1943 - 1959, and ending his career with the Winnipeg School Division first as a roofing maintenance worker form 1960 - 1964 and finally as a custodian from 1964 - 1977. Dad dealt with many physical adversities throughout his life with an unrelenting spirit. His memory for events and people in his past was astonishing and the family will cherish the memories of laughter and pleasure his stories provided. He was very proud to still be living on his own in his home at the age of 90, enjoying his collection of music from the 40's and 50's, and repairing broken objects for the family. Cremation has taken place and a private family internment service will take place at St. Mary's Cemetery at a later date. If friends so desire, donations may be made in his memory to the C.N.I.B., the Canadian Lung Association, or a charity of their choice. The heart that has truly loved never forgets Dad, you will be with us forever.
