SUSAN LYNN HARVEY (nee POOLE) 1961 - 2005 Peacefully on Thursday, July 28, 2005, at the age of 43 years, Susan Lynn Harvey passed away with her loving family by her side. Susan believed in being positive and touched many people in a very special way. Susan married her best friend Malcolm in September 1993 and enjoyed over 15 years of fun times and adventures together. Family was very important to Susan especially the two lights of her life Claire (10) and Neil (6). Claire and Neil will always know Susan as mama and they will miss her dearly. Susan had many close relatives including her mother Shirley Poole, sister Heather Poole, brother Steven Poole, father-in-law Evelyn (Bob) and stepmother-in-law Stella Harvey, and family. Mother-in-law Grace Harvey, sister-in-law Roslyn Sutherland and nephew Stedman Sutherland, brother-in-law Austin Harvey and sister-in-law Elizabeth Pate, nephews Jacob and Samantha Harvey and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Her father Leslie Poole predeceased Susan in 1997. Susan was born in Ottawa, ON, on December 4, 1961, and attended elementary school there until the family moved to Winnipeg in 1969. In Winnipeg Susan attended Carpathia Elementary, Westdale Junior High and Oak Park Senior High School. After graduating high school Susan entered the work force gaining employment with the Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation as a clerk in the Bodily Injury Department. Knowing that she wanted to further her career, Susan enrolled in the University of Manitoba, faculty of Human Ecology in 1981. Susan graduated from the faculty in 1985 with a Major in Family Studies, Consumerism and Financial Counselling. Some of Susan's accomplishments during this period were being elected Senior Stick in her final year at university and being named one of the six runners up for the 1981 Miss Manitoba title. After obtaining her university degree Susan started her career in Financial Planning at the Toronto Dominion Bank and then onto Royal Trust/Royal Bank. Memorial prayers will take place on Monday, August 8 at 7:00 p.m. and the memorial service will take place on Tuesday, August 9 at 2:30 p.m. Both services celebrating Susan's life will be held at Saint Mary's Anglican Church, 3830 Roblin Blvd., Winnipeg, MB. Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I went to U. of M. with Susan so many years ago! We took a spring break together to Florida one year with two other girls. I was so saddened to hear about Susan's passing and offer my sincere condolences to her family. One more angel in heaven... - Posted by: Laurel Boutet (Friend) on: Aug 09, 2005

  • Susan and I grew up from grade seven together. She was a wonderful person full of humour and wit. Even though as we grew we did not keep in touch as often as we should, I always received a very welcoming "Hi" on the other end of the phone line followed by long conversations. I admire Susan's strength over the past few years. My thoughts are with her family and know many are thinking of you all! - Posted by: Kathy Sass (Friend) on: Aug 09, 2005

  • Susan and I met through our love of Basketball players, ie. Malcolm and Ben. Later, we discovered that we shared the same birthday which led to many celebrations together. After the kids, were born our celebrations were afternoons sipping tea at each others houses. We always enjoyed lively conversation and much laughter. I always looked forward to those afternoons and I will miss them very much. Susan handled all lifes challenges with optimism and a sense of humor. I, like all who knew her will miss her very much. - Posted by: Karen Roberts (Friend) on: Aug 08, 2005
