RETA HENNESSY On August 3, 2005 our beloved mother, nanny and grand-nanny passed away at the Beausejour District Hospital. Left to mourn her passing are her children, Marg (George) Tresoor, George (Joyce Milne) Hennessy, Liz (Al) Woloski; daughter-in-law Carol Hennessy; grandchildren, Lori (Bruce) Mitchell and their sons, Kirk and Conner; Shannon (Mike) Adey and their daughter Erin; Cameron (Darlene) Tresoor and their son Harlen; Bonnie (Barry) Hodgson and their sons, Justin and Cody; Kim (George) Zotti. Reta was predeceased by her husband Howard in 1997, her sister Elizabeth (Bunty) in 1950 and her parents. Reta was born on December 12, 1914. That year saw the outbreak of The Second World War. When her father joined the armed forces in England her mother returned to Elgin, Scotland with Reta and her sister Bunty. Mum was always proud of her Scottish heritage and loved anything Scottish. When she was seven years old the family returned to Manitoba. Mum went to school in Brandon and then became a hairdresser. Her skills soon led to a promotion managing a new salon in Kenora, ON. In Kenora she met our Dad, Howard. They were married in September of 1937 and lived to enjoy their 60th wedding anniversary. Mum and Dad loved Kenora and all the many friends they had there. They raised their first two children there, Margaret and George. Then in 1951 Dad was transferred to Winnipeg and their last child Elizabeth was born. In Winnipeg Mum was kept busy raising her family and hairdressing from her home. Later she became employed as a Ward Clerk at the Health Sciences Centre, a job she loved immensely. After her retirement, Mum along with her daughters Liz and Marg took a trip to Scotland and we will always cherish the memories of that time. The last five years Mum resided at Brokenhead River Park where she had a small cottage near Liz and Al. She loved sitting on her porch and puttering with her flowers and enjoyed the company of visitors and of the other tenants in the Park. Mum's family was always the centre of her universe. Our lives were blessed for having such a wonderful Mother and Nanny. She gave her family a lifetime of happy memories, dinners, barbecues, girl's night out and all the little things she did for each and everyone of us. We love her 40 bushels. We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of the Beausejour District Hospital for all the care and kindness they gave our dear mum. At our mother's request there will be no funeral. In Reta's memory, friends may wish to donate to the Beausejour District Hospital, Box 1178, Beausejour, MB R0E 0C0. GREEN ACRES Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. #1 E. at Navin, (204) 222-3241
