GLADYS CURRIE (PRICE)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGLADYS CURRIE (nee PRICE) Peacefully on August 3, 2005, Gladys Currie passed away at Concordia Hospital, at 103 years of age. Born in Walsall, England in 1902, she came to Canada with her parents in 1905 and lived on Harbison and Martin Avenue until her death. She was predeceased by husband Bud ; brothers, Ernie and Jack Price; and sister Lura McLuckie. Mom will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, George H. (Deborah) of Winnipeg; Jean Robertson (Jack) of Abbotsford; Pat Vanderhorst of Abbotsford; Bob of Minneapolis; Gladys Holowka (Wally) of Winnipeg (all now old age pensioners); 14 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. Gladdy married George (Bud) Currie on June 4, 1924, and built their home on Martin Avenue in 1927. The cottage at Laclu was built in 1936 where she and the family have enjoyed every summer since, including a visit this year. Mom was active in the community in the formative years of the Kelvin Community Club with teen dances and canteen. She was Worthy Matron of Jepthah Chapter 22 Order of The Eastern Star and Grand Secretary of Grand Chapter 1956 to 1960. She was a life member of the Elmwood Ladies Curling Club and worked at the March of Dimes. During her later years, she was active in Eager Beavers at the Y, CNIB Knitting Class and Concordia Adult Day Club. A special Thank You to Linda and Ernie Palley across the lane for their kindness to Mom on many many occasions. Mom has had wonderful care from the care givers of Home Care Services for the past ten years. They were the best of the best! (especially nurses Gordon, Andrea and Marissa). Also Thank You to the 3rd floor East staff at Concordia Hospital. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 6 at 2:30 p.m., at Klassen Funeral Home, 1897 Henderson Hwy.
