KATHLEEN SHATULSKY (1896 - 2005) Kathleen Shatulsky passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 5, 2005 at the Fred Douglas Lodge at the age of 108. She was predeceased by her husband Matthew, her parents Yurko and Anna Semeniuk, and brothers Fedir, Antin, Vasyl, Dmytro and Yakiv. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Myron and his wife Olga. Kathleen was born on October 12, 1896 in the village of Illintsi, Ivano-Frankivsk province, Ukraine. She arrived in Canada on July 27, 1906 as a young child of 10 years with her father. Kathleen lived and worked in Edmonton until 1920, then moved to Winnipeg, where she married her husband Matthew. Kathleen worked for many years in the textile industry as a seamstress and union activist until her retirement at the age of 68. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening, the art of knitting, embroidery and crocheting, and also enjoyed reading. Kathleen was a founding member of the Workers Benevolent Association and the Association of United Ukrainian Canadians. Cremation has taken place and no formal service will be held.
