ROYCE (ROY) LOUIS JACKMAN Royce (Roy) Louis Jackman passed away peacefully at Vernon on Sunday, July 31, 2005. Aged 83 years. He will be lovingly remembered by wife Shirley of Armstrong, BC. Predeceased by his father John in 1954 and mother Ruth in 1986. Roy was born December 6, 1921 at Plum Coulee, MB and attended school there. He was a great hockey fan and played in all the local tournaments. Roy served in the Army during the Second World War. He worked for the Hudson Bay Mining Company in Flin Flon then joined the CPR in 1951 working at the Portage Division then in 1952 transferred to the Revelstoke Division. Tired of shovelling a lot of snow, in 1980 Roy moved to Armstrong and continued with the CPR out of Vernon until his retirement on January 1, 1982. An active member of the Masonic Lodge and Royal Canadian Legion, Roy's hobbies included his Welsh ponies, raising chickens and pigeons. A celebration of life will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 4 at the Odd Fellows Hall, Armstrong. Memorial donations may be made to Okanagan Cancer Cars, 2251 Abbott St., Kelowna, BC V1Y 2E2 or Shriner's Hospital for Sick Children, 3550 Wayburne Dr., Burnaby, BC V5G 3K9.
