MAURICE (MOE) PHILLIP KOMYSHYN Peacefully with his family by his side, Maurice Moe Phillip Komyshyn passed away at home on Tuesday, August 9, 2005 at the age of 58, after a year long battle with cancer. Maurice was born on January 26, 1947 in Winnipeg. He grew up and raised his family in Transcona. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Kay; his father and mother-in-law, Adam and Mary Brygider. Maurice will be sadly missed by Marianne Bunny , his loving wife of 37 years; children, Marnie (Leon), Mark, Melanie (Jared); and his grandchildren, Tyson, Kaedence and Kassie; brothers, Edward (Nancy), Leonard (Rhonda); and sister Valerie (Gary). Maurice will also be forever remembered and cherished by many other family members, friends and coworkers. Maurice graduated from Red River College in 1969 and worked as a meat cutter with Westfair Foods for the past 36 years. He was eagerly awaiting his retirement in two years. Maurice always enjoyed participating in a variety of sports. He loved playing hockey, baseball and bowling. He was also an avid fisherman, and loved to spend the winters ice fishing. In more recent years he loved his Jets and then the Moose . Even though he lived his entire life in Winnipeg, he was always an Edmonton Eskimo fan. His proudest moment was making the transition from Dad to Grampy . He loved nothing more than spending his vacation in Edmonton babysitting his Little General Tyson. He was the first and only one allowed to give Kaedence her first taste of ice cream. The family extends sincere appreciation to the staff of 7AS at St. Boniface Hospital, the nurses from the oncology unit, the palliative home care staff, and especially Michelle who made it possible for Dad to attend his youngest daughter's wedding in May. Special thanks also goes out to all of the family, friends and neighbours whose visits and offers of help are so gratefully appreciated. Dad loved nothing more than to visit with friends and shoot the breeze with his neighbours. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of Maurice's life will take place on Saturday, August 13 at 7:00 p.m. in the Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Maurice's memory to the CancerCare Manitoba. In tears we saw you sinking; We watched you fade away You suffered much in silence; You fought so hard to stay You faced your task with courage; Your spirit did not bend But still you kept on fighting; Until the very end. God saw you getting tired; So He put his arms around you And whispered Come with Me . So when we saw you sleeping; So peaceful free from pain. We could not wish you back; To suffer that again. Our family chain is broken; And nothing seems the same As God calls us one by one; Our chain will link again. We will always love you Dad and we'll be looking for you in the skies Grampy...
