FRANCESCO AIELLO With great love and wonderful memories, the family of Francesco Aiello announces his peaceful passing on August 10, 2005, att St. Boniface Hospial. He will be missed by his children, Caterina (Angelo) D'Amico, Raffaelina (Vincenzo) DeRosa, Carmelo, Raffaele (Francesca), Anna Maria (Kevin) Keating and Gina. Nonno will be fondly remembered by his beautiful grandchildren whose generous spirit was and will continue to be an inspiration to Carmela, Alessandro (Sandra), Franco, Maria, Francesco (Nella), Patrick, Daniel, Krista and Matthew. He was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Alessandra, David, Vincenzo and Michele. Francesco grew up surrounded by his loving siblings who will now cherish his memory; Giuseppe, Andrea (Maria), Carmelo (Paolina), and Carmela, numerous nephews and nieces. Now his graceful and loving spirit joins his beloved wife Antonia; parents, Raffaele and Caterina; sister Maria; nephew and best friend Francesco. Born in Amato, Catanzaro, Italy on October 13, 1925, Francesco met and married his life partner Antonia Sacco on August 11, 1945. This year would have been their 60th wedding anniversary. With a great desire to provide his family for a better life, he immigrated to Canada in 1952 and immediately found employment with CNR and remained working there until his retirement in 1988. He was reunited with his wife and three children in 1957 and was blessed with three more children in Canada for a total of six. A proud and passionate Canadian, who loved his adopted country, he never forgot his cultural roots by planting European styled gardens, hosting family and friends during the wine making season and the holidays, sharing stories, laughter and a good glass of wine. Our parents led by example by instilling their family values and morals upon us. Mom stayed at home to raise the family while dad worked hard and diligently outside on the rail gangs never complaining about the harshness of weather's bitter offerings of cold or excruciating heat. because of his loyalty and commitment to hard work, he was always one of the first to be called in for track repair and went the extra mile to ensure the job was well done. He would come home to us with a warm smile, stories of the day and boundless energy to tend to his family needs. During his brief illness with cancer, dad showed a tremendous amount of courage and selflessness by welcoming his family and friends with a greeting smile and imparting his wisdom We have lots of love, friendship, family; we are blessed. We would like to thank staff and residents at Villa Cabrini for enriching our father's life with your friendship and care; the St. Boniface Hospital palliative ward for your compassion during our difficult time there. Our family would love you to come and share memories of our father at the celebration of his life and prayers on Sunday, August 14 at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 510 River Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 15 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Church with Rev. Fr. Sam Argenziano presiding. Immediately following the service committal will be at Assumption Chapel Mausoleum, 3990 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren and two nephews Raffaele Aiello and Ralph Aiello. If friends so desire donations in our father's memory may be made to the St. Boniface Palliative Ward, CancerCare Manitoba or the Villa Cabrini.
