KENZO TERAMURA Peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2005, Kenzo Teramura passed away at St. Boniface Hospital surrounded by his family. Ken is survived by Kazue, his wife of 55 years; sons, Daniel and Allan (Kristina Leaning); daughter Susan MacKenzie; and grandchildren, Lauren, Eric, Misha, Nicholas, Gabriel and Isabel. He was predeceased by his brother Hisao (Terry) in 1982. Ken was born on February 25, 1925, in New Westminster, BC, and spent his early years in Pitt Meadows, BC. He was relocated to Manitoba in 1942 and worked on sugar beet farms in southwestern Manitoba. Next, he was a market gardener in Headingley before moving to Winnipeg in 1954. There, he went into the construction business and formed his own company. His excellent workmanship was appreciated by countless customers for many years until his retirement in 1992. Upon retirement, he continued to share his talents through beautiful woodworking projects and crafts. Ken was an active member of the Manitoba Buddhist Church and served on its board for many years in various capacities. The family would like to thank Dr. P. Harris and the staff of the Oncology Clinic at Concordia Hospital for their wonderful care; also, heartfelt thanks are given to the staff and volunteers of the Palliative Care Unit at St. Boniface Hospital for their warm, tender care and support. Funeral service 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 17 at the Manitoba Buddhist Church, 825 Winnipeg Ave., with Rev. Fredrich Ulrich officiating. Flowers gratefully declined. As an expression of sympathy in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Ken to CancerCare Manitoba or the Manitoba Buddhist Church.
