THERESA CATHERINE PENNER June 23, 1941 - August 14, 2005 Peacefully, on August 14, 2005, at the St. Boniface Hospital, our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Theresa Penner passed away at age 64 years. Theresa was born in Egham, England, coming to Canada with her parents in 1945. She later met and married Martin Penner and together the couple raised their four children. Eventually they moved to South Transcona, where they became long time active members of the community. Theresa's last employment was at South Side Esso where her cheery greetings and friendly ways made many friends amongst customers and neighbours alike. Predeceased by her parents, Beatrice and Nicholas Simmel, she leaves to cherish her memory, husband Martin; children, Deborah (Glen), Robert, Edward, Karen (Peter J.); five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Also surviving are her sister Brenda (Ron) Sarrasin; brother Ray (Priscilla) Simmel; many brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and dear friends. Funeral service will be conducted by Chaplain Paul Martin on Thursday, August 18 at 1:00 p.m. at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. Burial to follow at the Transcona Cemetery. Her family, at this time, would like to express their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Dr. Pilat for his longtime care, Dr. Grenier and nurses, Karen and Laurie at St. Boniface CancerCare, as well as to staff on 5E who competently offered tender care.
