GLADYS SARAH OLECKA It is with the greatest sorrow that the family announces Gladys' passing on Sunday, August 14, 2005 at home. She was predeceased by her parents Alice and Oliver (Ole) Brandson, by her sister Laura Siewert and by her children's father John Blue. She will be sadly missed and always remembered by her husband Henry (Hank) Olecka, her children Kathy Bales (Chris), Laura Rachiele (Dan) and Joanne Dibiase, her brother Doug Brandson (Angela), also by her grandchildren Krista, Richard, John, Joseph and Michael and by all of her friends. Gladys was born in Winnipeg on June 13, 1934. She married John in 1951 and raised three daughters alone after he died in 1970. She was the Mom on the block that all the kids wanted. She was always there for her daughters and anyone else who needed her. In the early 70's she met Hank. They married in 1981 and they were together all this time. She had a passion for bingo and the casino and a great sense of humour. She loved to get together for family gatherings and would always be the first to play games. She usually had us all laughing at charades. She also did the best claw in town. Mom was a friend and confidant to all; humble and real; incredible and selfless; a listener and advisor; sometimes stubborn; always loving and forgiving. She left us all with so many wondrous gifts, she will be with us always. She will always be near, always missed, always loved. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 19 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Donations may be made in Gladys's memory to the Manitoba Lung Association in lieu of flowers.
