Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILFRED (BILL) MINDESS Wilfred (Bill) Mindess, husband of the late Mary Mindess, passed away at Deer Lodge Centre on August 7, 2005, after a lengthy illness. His uplifting spirit and humourous outlook inspite of adversity is a credit to his memory. Bill was educated at the University of Manitoba and then enlisted in the army. He proudly served his country overseas in the Second World War. Bill started his literary career working for the Citizen newspaper and then the Winnipeg Free Press. He went on to be news editor for the CBC. Bill's passion for writing and the articulation of the English language was well known. He valued his friendships with his coworkers and others. Bill is survived by his sister May (Dan) Tallman; niece Roberta (Dr. Ron Chochinov) and family; nephew Michael (Candis) Tadman and family; niece Rebecca (Alan) Schacter and family; sister-in-law Margaret Harland and family; and many relatives and friends. A funeral service was conducted by Cantor Len Udow at the Temple Shalom with interment at the Hebrew Sick Cemetery. A special thanks to his volunteer worker, Eileen Desrocher, who went the extra mile in making Bill feel cared for and comfortable; also a heartfelt thanks to Peter Campbell who offered his friendship and support in making Bill's life more productive. Thank you to staff on Lodge 4 for your kindness and caring for Bill. Pallbearers were Alan Schacter, Michael Schacter, Michael Conner, Josh Weinstein, Myron Borden and Brent Sasley. Honorary pallbearers were Janet and Sam Block, Jen and Chris Salzen and Dr. Barry Stronger.
