BERTHA ZUKOWSKI (nee MEREDITH) It is with deep sadness we announce the peacefully passing, at home, of Bertha Zukowski (nee Meredith), on August 15, 2005 at the age of 56. Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband Joe; her son Michael; her sister Marion, her uncle Don and wife Myrna of British Columbia; her many dear friends and other extended family members, and beloved feline friends Scatter and Skeeter. She was predeceased by her parents Chester and Agnes Meredith. Bertha was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed being a homemaker. She was a joyful, caring person - beloved by her many friends. She was an excellent seamstress and a creative woman of many talents - from writing poetry to designing and knitting beautiful sweaters and outfits. In her early 50's, Bertha went back to school and received her Grade 12 diploma, receiving excellent marks in each subject. Bertha was proud of this and her family was even more proud of her for her accomplishment. Christmas was her favourite time of the year and she delighted in decorating their home for the occasion, with Christmas trees in almost every room. Bertha loved her shopping excursions with friends, Lorna, Louise and Margaret and enjoyed showing off her TREASURES from each trip. Thank you to her cousins Edith Heinrichs (Roy) and Betty Cole. A special thanks to Dr. Lotocki and staff, Palliative Care staff (St. Boniface Hospital) and Home Care staff for their kindness and care. A very special thanks to all her dear friends and extended family members for their care, concern and love. You all know who you are! Bertha lived, loved and left her beautiful memory to so many who loved her. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 18 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. A funeral service will be held, also at the chapel, on Friday, August 19 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bertha's memory to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
