DONALD JOHN MCINTYRE
Date of Passing: Aug 15, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDONALD JOHN MCINTYRE 1929 - 2005 Peacefully on August 15, 2005 at Riverview Health Centre, Donald passed away after a courageous battle with lung cancer. He is survived and missed by his wife Eileen; and three sons, John (Elaine), David (Katia) and Mitchell; as well as sisters, Margaret Pozer (Bill) and Marion Oakes (Victor). His granddaughters, Meaghan, Kelsey and Mallory lit up his life upon their arrival and did so anywhere, anytime. Nieces, Laura (David, sons, Kevin and Scott), Jan (Kevin, son Jayden and daughter Ashlyn); and nephew Billy (Karen) will miss Donald's special brand of being an uncle. Eileen's large extended family (the E's and many others) loved Donald like a brother and enjoyed many memorable times together. Donald was so proud of his sons and taught them to live the good life with honesty, generosity, hard work and above all with lots of humour. Donald was employed for 42 years at MTS and while always happy to go to work, made sure that he found the time to involve himself with each of his son's many activities. He also managed to spend hours golfing at Assiniboine Golf Club, where he served a term as president. Donald belonged to the Khartum Shrine Pipe Band for 35 years and to this day has that family of great guys. Donald and Eileen loved travelling and hold many memories of places far away from Winnipeg. The manner in which Donald accepted his cancer was truly amazing. The help, guidance and solace that he received from the teams of doctors, nurses and support staff along the way made it possible to spend his time with family and friends amid all the pain and suffering, he was so brave. Dignified to his last breath, he was able to reach the peace that he so deeply deserved. We particularly want to thank Dr. Harris and the Grace CancerCare team, along with the remarkably compassionate staff at Riverview for their help, there truly are angels amongst us. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson In the Park Funeral Home, 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Flowers gratefully declined, donations in Donald's memory can be made to the Khartum Shrine Patient Transportation Fund, CancerCare Grace Hospital or the Riverview Health Centre. I am trying to track Eileen who was a dear friend from many years ago in Winnipeg. I would appreciate any information about her and her sons as I have list track if Eileen. Spoke with her years ago after Donald passed away. She was planning on coming to Calgary however I never heard from her again. I was Dianne Mann at the time of contact and was married to Kelly Mann who worked with Don. - Posted by: Dianne. Federation (Long time friend of the family) on: May 06, 2021
