LUCIEN A. MENARD September 23, 1918 - August 17, 2005 It is with great sorrow and sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Lucien Menard on Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at the St. Boniface Hospital. Lou was predeceased by sisters, Jeannette, Annette, and Lillian, his parents, Ernest and Dorothy, numerous in-laws, and best friends, Ralph and Kay Sarrasin. Lou leaves to cherish his many memories, his wife of sixty years, Philomena (Ward), daughter, Anne Meilleur (Armand), son, Kenneth (Dianne), son, Ernest (Claudia), daughter, Laura Snell (Russell), grandchildren, Colleen (Darren), Maureen, Michelle mon p'tit Gars (Dominique), Danny (Alana), Nicole (Jason), Kerry, Aimee, David, Joshua, Amanda (Brad), Desiree, Mark, and great grandchildren, Damian, Danielle, Cayla, Alix, Tyrell, Dylan, MacKenzie, and Dannika, and one on the way. He is also survived by five sisters, three brothers, one sister-in-law in Scotland, two brothers -in-law, and two sisters-in-laws and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Lou was born in Fisher Branch, MB to Ernest and Dorothy Menard. He was the first of twelve children. He lived in Fisher Branch until he joined the Air Force in 1939 and was stationed overseas. During the war, Lou met his wife, Philomena in Scotland. After the war, Lou and Phyllis moved back to Fisher Branch. Dad worked at several jobs to support his family. He was a very devoted family man and a religious person who supported and participated in his church and parish. Dad and Mom made many long-lasting friends while bowling for many years. Dad was an avid bowler until December 2004. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, August 22 at Christ The King Parish, 847 St. Mary's Road with reception to follow in the Church Hall. A private family interment will take place at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family would like to thank the paramedics, St. Boniface Hospital doctors, staff and Fr. Roland Lanoie for their caring and support in their time of need. Donations may be made in Lou's memory to the MB Heart and Stroke Foundation or the St. Boniface Research Foundation.
