Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryLILIAN MARJORIE MOTT (nee CHURCH) Lilian Marjorie passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2005 at Meadowood Manor Personal Care Home in Winnipeg, MB. Lilian was born in London, England on November 14, 1911, the elder daughter of Thomas and Emily Church. Lil married Charles Mott on May 31, 1933 and farmed with Charlie in Forrest and Bradwardine until 1938 when they moved to Winnipeg. Lil was a life member and past president of the Fort Rouge Ladies Curling Club. She was also a devoted life member of Rosedale (Churchill Park) United Church, and a former member of UCW (unit one) and the choir. She was a founding member of the Golden Rule Seniors, of which she was leader of the Glee Club for nine years. Music was a very important part of Lil's life. Her main aim in later years was bringing sunshine into the lives of shut-ins. She also spent many years helping with the Winnipeg Chapter of Muscular Dystrophy. 52 happy years were spent at the cottage at Grand Beach. Lil never lost her sense of humour and often surprised her grandchildren with some unique and memorable quotes. Lilian was predeceased by her parents; her sister Ruth Young (Horace); her beloved husband of 52 years, Charlie in 1985; her sons, Donald in 1939 and Raymond in 2000. Left to mourn are daughter-in-law Janice Mott, granddaughters, Shirley Mott, Cheryl Staples (Mike), Debra Dow (Jason), Tracy Minkley (Dan), great-grandchildren, Megan and Brooke Dow, Brendan and Madison Staples, Quinlan and Evangeline Minkley, all of British Columbia; daughter Marjorie Holmes (Edward), grandchildren, Shawn Holmes (Glonor Penaflorida), Bob Holmes (Sheryl), all of Manitoba, Tanya Holmes (David Ali), of Toronto, great-grandchildren, Devin and Eryck Holmes, Charlie Faith Holmes; sister-in-law Emily Haddon (Gordon); Florence Ogilvie (Stan), Nancy Mott, Shirley Mott and many nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be held on Monday, August 22 at 1:00 p.m. at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Churchill Park United Church, or a charity of your choice. Charlie, the years since you left have been lonely. I'm happy to now be at rest.
