Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJULIUS LUDWIG (LOUIS) RODEWALD Peacefully on August 16, 2005, with family by his side, Louis passed away at the Emerson Personal Care Home. He met each challenge presented by Progressive Supranuclear Palsy with courage and determination. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Linda; children, Teresa, Grant (Val), Pat (Jim) and Bruce; grandchildren, Brent, Curtis (Stephanie), Erin, Keith, Bruce, Kirby, John and Jim (Tara); great-grandchildren, Camille, Carter and Rylee. He will be missed by his sisters-in-law, brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. Louis was predeceased by his parents, Otto and Rosalie; brothers, Robert, Herbert and Walter and sister Hilda. Louis was born in Emerson on July 10, 1926. He married Linda on September 26, 1952. His life was devoted to his family and his love of the land. Farming for more than 60 years in the Emerson area, Louis always looked forward to spring seeding and the fall harvest. The family worked together to reap the many benefits of living on a farm, as well as dealing with the hardships along the way. This experience equipped their children with a strong set of values which has served them well. Louis also drove a school bus for many years. Louis was an avid curler. He learned to downhill ski later in life and enjoyed numerous ski trips to Banff and Kelowna with his family. The grandchildren especially enjoyed these trips. Boating and water skiing also became a favourite sport at High Wind Lake. The Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bomber games were enjoyed often in the company of his brothers, Herb and Walter. The family will be forever grateful to the Home Care staff, staff and physicians at the Morris Hospital and most recently the staff and physicians at the Emerson Personal Care Home. The care and compassion they provided was above and beyond what we could ever have hoped for; they truly were part of Louis' family. Hopefully his beautiful smiles will be always remembered and an inspiration to all who were the recipient of his smiles. A celebration of Louis' life will take place on Monday, August 22 at 2:00 p.m. at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Emerson. Interment to follow at the Emerson Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Louis' memory can be made to the Emerson Personal Care Home and/or Emmanuel Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, Emerson R0A 0L0. Come to me, all who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28). Wiebe Funeral Home Altona Ltd. 204-324-5404 in care of arrangements.
