PAUL GROSS The family sadly announces the passing of our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Paul Gross on Thursday, August 18, 2005. Paul was born in Morden, MB on April 22, 1907. The Gross family later homesteaded in Camper, MB and Virden, MB. Dad worked in Racine, WI for 2 years as a welder for J. I. Case before moving back to Winnipeg. He was the Superintendent and chief ice-cream maker at Palm Dairies, Winnipeg. In 1946 he joined his brother Edward to open Dial Radio Service. Paul sold the business in 1974 and continued to manage for another two years. Dad married his life partner, Emma Deobald in 1937. He was predeceased by his wife, Emma in 1986; mother Maria Magdalena Gross and father Gottlieb; sisters, Jude and Sophie; brothers, Alex, Vic, Ed and John. Dad is survived by his son Gary Gross; daughter Joy and her husband Gordon French; grandchildren, Perry and wife Holly French, Kara and husband Marc Leckman; and great-grandchildren, Caitlin, Taylor, Kira, Matthew and Nicholas. Dad was a kind and gentle man, the epitome of a gentleman. He was a caregiver all his life and a role model for his family. Dad had a great sense of humour and always had a ready repertoire of jokes. He loved sports and played golf until he was 97 years old. He was deeply loved and respected and will be dearly missed by all. Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 22 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with interment and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, if family or friends so desire, donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 5 Kent St., Winnipeg, MB R2L 1X3.
