TEENIE HERSHFIELD It is with great sadness that the family wishes to announce the passing of their mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Teenie Hershfield (nee Nerman) on August 11, 2005. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Sheppy Hershfield; her sister Bessie Lazers, and her brother Ben Nerman. She is survived by her children, Earl (Betty Anne), Melvyn (Marlene) and Sharon (Micha); grandchildren, Jeffrey (Alison), David, and Bryan Hershfield, Jennifer and Jon Weinberg, Michael, Lauren and Alexis Hershfield; great-grandchildren, Andrew Tefs and Sophia Hershfield. She was born on March 23, 1910 in Dubrovna, Russia, and immigrated to Canada with her family in 1912. She grew up in the north end of Winnipeg, attending William Whyte School, St. John's Tech, and Wesley College. Teenie and Sheppy were married on June 27, 1931. She was a devoted wife and mother who was active in the Jewish community. In later years she enjoyed the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 14 at Congregation Eitz Chaim. Burial took place at Rosh Pina Cemetery. Pallbearers were David Hershfield, Michael Hershfield, Barry Plosker, Jon Weinberg, Bryan Hershfield, and Jeffrey Hershfield. Donations may be made to the Sheppy and Teenie Hershfield Fund care of The Jewish Foundation of Manitoba or to a charity of one's choice.
