ALICE SHIZUE NAKAMURA (nee EBATA) On August 17, 2005 after a lengthy illness, with her granddaughter by her side, Alice Nakamura passed away at Victoria Hospital at the age of 93. She leaves to cherish her memory her two sons, Raymond and Bruce (Ann) (Ottawa); grandson Robert Kato; granddaughters, Debra Kato (Vancouver) and Diane Nakamura (Ottawa); as well as numerous family members and friends. She was predeceased by her husband George Sohei (1982) and daughter Joy Kato (1999). She was born and raised in Vancouver, marrying in 1936. They raised their family in Lemon Creek, BC during the internment of Japanese-Canadians, before coming to Winnipeg in 1946 where they worked hard together to build a new life. She will forever be remembered in our hearts as a loving and giving woman who did and taught us so much. She always said that she was so lucky to have such a long and wonderful life. In accordance to her wishes there will not be any formal service. Cremation has already taken place with private interment at a later date. The family wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Unit 5 at the Victoria Hospital for their care and support. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. No koden please.
