Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryURSZULA WARSZYCKI August 22, 1927 - August 19, 2005 Peacefully at the age of 77 years, at the Maples Personal Care Home Urszula Warszycki passed away. Beloved wife, mother and Babcia, Urszula was predeceased by her husband Lucjan in 1996. She leaves to mourn her passing, her two sons, John and wife Bonnie and Vincenty (Vince) and wife Claire; and her grandchildren, Laura Anne, Peter and Benjamin, as well as many close family members and friends. Born in Poland August 22, 1927. She had a difficult life during the war years. In 1949 she married Lucjan and together they farmed in a small village Niemirow, near the Russian border. In 1961, in search of a better life, the family immigrated to Canada and settled in Winnipeg where she was employed in the sewing industry, mostly at Peerless Garments, where she made many long and lasting friendships. In 1967, they bought a house in Garden City. After retiring from Peerless Garments, she soon found casual work at the Eaton's Restaurant in Garden City. Family life was very important to her. Starting a new life in a strange country without control of the language or customs of Canada, she used her humble beginnings in Poland to provide a good life for her family. Never far from home, she was an excellent cook and loved her garden, which she tended with pride. She enjoyed trips to the country, where accompanying Lucjan on fishing trips and picking mushrooms brought her joy. Sharing her garden produce like tomatoes, leeks, onions and apples brought her happiness as well as a steady line of visitors. Since coming to Canada, she belonged to the St. John Cantius Parish Church where for many years she sang in the Polish choir. After retiring, her home was her sanctuary and she enjoyed her independence. In 2004 she suffered a health crisis from which she could not recover. She died peacefully at the Maples Personal Care Home two days short of her 78th birthday. The family wishes to thank the caring people of the Maples Personal Care Home on 1 West, and the visitors who signed her calendar on their many visits. Prayers will be said on Monday, August 22 at 6:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. at Luxton Avenue. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 23 at 10.30 a.m. at St John Cantius Roman Catholic Church, 846 Burrows Ave., with Fr. Henry Uczniak officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Ghost Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Peter Warszycki, Benjamin Warszycki, Andrew Saciuk, Wally Saciuk, Andrew Klapprat and David Miller. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Urszula's memory to the Canadian Diabetes Association. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

I have fond memories of mushroom picking in the forest. I am not sure how many mushrooms we actually picked but the whole experience brings back a good feeling. I remember your family visiting our place and while our parents sat and talked around the kitchen table we played outside. I'm glad I was able to see her again last fall after many years. - Posted by: Ava Gaber (nee Kwiatkowski) (Friend) on: Sep 01, 2005
