WILLIAM (BILL) MARTINUK Peacefully on Saturday, August 20, 2005, Bill passed away at the Selkirk and District General Hospital. The eldest child of Pearl and Michael Martinuk, he was born in Narol, MB, on January 15, 1916. He lived and farmed with his parents in Gonor, MB, where he attended the Gonor School, then the Selkirk Collegiate. In 1943 the family moved to East Lower Fort Garry. He leaves to treasure his memory and dearly miss his presence, his brother and sister, Myron of East Lower Fort Garry and Bernice of Winnipeg; also his sisters-in-law, Kathleen, Theresa and Doris; his nephews, Matthew and David; nieces, Karen (Steve), Terry-Jane, Andrea, Janet (Marcel), Carol; and his great-nephew Christopher. He was predeceased by his father (1984), mother (1985); brothers, Andrew (1989) and John (1993), a brother and sister in infancy; and brother-in-law John Timo (1997). Bill was a kind and caring son, brother, uncle, and friend. A gentle spirit whose life personified The Golden Rule. Uncle 's loving patience and understanding with children would be the envy of any parent. His quest for knowledge was found in reading; his interest in non-fiction ran a broad gamut from religion (which made him a strong defender of the faith) to astronomy to history. Even in his advancing years he followed some current events and daily tracked the weather page, until his admission to the hospital two months ago. Prayers will be said Tuesday, August 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk, MB. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 24 at 10:00 a.m. in the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gonor, with Fr. Peter Chorney officiating. Interment to follow in the churchyard cemetery. Our thanks to the workers of homecare. Your visits brightened his day and helped make it possible for him to stay in his home. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements.
