ROBERT (ROB) ROSS GRIFFIN
Born: Nov 30, 1956
Date of Passing: Aug 20, 2005
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryROBERT (ROB) ROSS GRIFFIN November 30, 1956 - August 20, 2005 Tragically, Robert (Rob) Ross Griffin died on August 20, 2005, in a motor vehicle accident near his home and family farm in Darlingford, MB. Left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are Marilyn, his wife and soul mate of 23 years; and the joy of Rob's life - his two daughters, Keri (special friend Brodie) and Kaleigh. Rob was blessed with a close family and will be sadly missed by his mother Roberta, of Morden; as well as two sisters, Eileen (Rocky) Vodden and their children Mathew and Nicholas of Manitou and Jeanne (Jim) Mager and their children Brianna and Eric of Saskatoon. Holding an extra special place in Rob's heart were his international daughters including Katja, Nena and Mandy of Germany as well as Jill of Quebec and Som of Thailand. Also mourning his loss is the extended Biggar family including Wallace, Dolores, Murray, Joanne (Ken) Rodeck, Barbara (Reg) Giesbrecht, Elaine (Don) Hodgson as well as numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Rob was predeceased by his infant son Michael in 1982; and his Dad Ross in 1985. Rob lived his entire life on the family homestead, attending school in both Darlingford and Manitou. In 1978, he and Marilyn took over the farm where they raised their two daughters. In 2000, the family purchased Mr. G's Drive Inn in Manitou. Most recently, Rob worked full-time at Monarch Industries in Winkler. More than anything, Rob was known and loved for his huge heart, his gentle spirit and his love of life. He was quick with a smile but even quicker to lend a hand to anyone and everyone needing help. As a result, he was blessed with many, many close friends - some who were as dear to him as brothers. As much as he loved his family and the land, Rob also loved to have fun. He lived each day to the fullest with an easygoing, carefree manner that will be most sorely missed by all who knew and loved him. Rock on, Rob! Viewing will take place Wednesday, August 24, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Wiebe's Funeral Chapel in Morden. In celebration of Rob's life, a memorial service will be held at St. Paul's United Church in Morden on Thursday, August 25 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Doug Craig officiating. Ash interment at Knightcot Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at Darlingford Community Hall. Friends and family are also invited back that evening to the Griffin family farm to share stories and memories around the bonfire. Should friends and family so desire, donations may be made in Rob's memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Pembina Parish or the Wellness Centre in Manitou.
