GERARD JOSEPH GUYOT 1918 - 2005 Gerard passa de cette vie le 21 aout a l'age de 87 ans apres une courte maladie. Gerard, fils cadet de Francois et Doree (Mandeville) Guyot, est ne a Sainte-Rose-du-Lac le 9 mars 1918. Il fut predecede par ses parents Francois et Doree, ses deux freres, Yvonic et Sarto, ainsi que leurs epouses et sa soeur Francoise. Il laisse dans le deuil sa femme Helene (Couture), ses deux fils, Louis et Barbara (Zunic), Raymond et Diane (Shubaly) et ses deux adorables petites filles, Christine et Dominique. Apres avoir gradue de l'ecole secondaire, Gerard debuta sa carriere de travail au magasin Adams Red and White a Ste. Rose puis a l'hopital de Saint-Boniface. Il travailla ensuite a l'hotel Fort Garry pour plusieurs annees. Il maria Helene Couture le 21 septembre 1946 et ils etablirent leur famille a Saint-Boniface. Plus tard dans sa carriere, il poursuivit ses etudes au College Communautaire Assiniboine a Brandon (Manitoba) ou il gradua en bien-etre social. Il fut ensuite travailleur social pour la Children's Aid Society of Winnipeg . Par la suite, il passa un nombre d'annees comme garde securitaire pour diverses compagnies jusqu'a sa retraite. Papa jouissait de la chasse aux canards et aux outardes de meme que la peche avec Pepere, les cousins et les amis. Il aimait aussi se reunir avec sa famille lors des vacances, les rassemblements et les occasions speciales. Il aimait surtout les soupers de bifteck et filet mignon prepare sur le gril. Des moments inoubliables comptent son voyage en France accompagne de son pere pour visiter la maison natale Guyot et la grotte a Lourdes. Il fut aussi fortune de visiter le Vatican et de voir le Pape Jean XXIII lors d'une audience a Rome. En retraite, Papa et Maman se sont rendus a Phoenix en Arizona et a Puerto Plata. Papa etait un pere et mari devoue ainsi que Pepe ses deux petites filles dont il etait si fier et qui lui ont donne tant de joie. Il nous manquera tous. La famille aimerait exprimer ses sinceres remerciements aux divers professionnels des services de sante qui ont fournis les soins a Papa: Raymond Aubin, Coordonnateur des dossiers de soins continus et le personnel des Soins a domicile; l'equipe de repit du Centre Tache et particulierement la travailleuse sociale Nicole Guttormson et Ginette Leclair; Carole Prince et Docteure Ducas du Centre du Jour Tache; Docteure Danais-Brown; le personnel devoue et attentif du 2 East au Maples Personal Care Home et les Docteurs Cheung et Lebedin ; et le personnel de l'unite dix du troisieme etage et le personnel de l'unite quatre du cinquieme etage de l'Hopital Seven Oaks. Un grand merci aux amis et au personnel a l'Accueil Colombien, la residence de Papa et Maman. Les prieres auront lieu le jeudi 25 aout 2005 a 19h00 au Salon mortuaire Desjardins, 357 rue DesMeurons. La messe des funerailles aura lieu le vendredi 26 aout 2005 a 10h30 a la Cathedrale de Saint-Boniface, 190 avenue de la Cathedrale, avec l'abbe Edouard Bonin celebrant. Il y aura visionnement a 10h00 jusqu'a l'heure du service. En guise de sympathie, des dons en sa memoire pourront etre faits au CNIB, prestataire des services de support pour Papa lors de ses dernieres annees ou a la Fondation de Recherche de l'Hopital General de Saint-Boniface. La direction des funerailles de Monsieur Gerard Guyot a ete confiee au Salon mortuaire Desjardins, 233-4949 ou sans frais 1(888) 233-4949. GERARD JOSEPH GUYOT 1918 - 2005 Gerard passed away August 21, 2005 after a brief illness, at the age of 87. Gerard was born in Ste. Rose-du-Lac, MB March 9, 1918, the youngest son of Francois Guyot and Doree (Mandeville). He was predeceased by his parents, his two brothers, Yvonic and Sarto, their spouses; and his sister Francoise. He leaves to mourn his beloved wife Helene (Couture); his two sons, Louis (Barbara Zunic), Raymond (Diane Shubaly); and his two precious granddaughters, Christine and Dominique. After graduation from school, Gerard first worked at Adams Red and White Store in Ste. Rose and then at the Saint Boniface General Hospital. He was later employed at the Fort Garry Hotel for many years. He married Helene Couture on September 21, 1946, and they raised their family in St. Boniface. Later in his career, Dad pursued further education at Assiniboine Community College in Brandon, graduating in Social Welfare. He then worked as a social worker with the Children's Aid Society of Winnipeg. He spent his semi-retirement as a security person for several companies until his retirement. Dad enjoyed duck and goose hunting and fishing with Pepere, his cousins and friends. He liked visiting with his family during the holidays, special gatherings and family occasions. He especially liked his steak dinners and barbecued beef tenderloin. Memorable occasions include his trip to France with his father to visit the paternal Guyot house and to see the grotto at Lourdes. He was fortunate enough also to visit the Vatican and had the pleasure of seeing Pope John XXIII. Dad and Mom also travelled during their retirement for winter holidays to Phoenix, AZ and to Puerto Plata. Dad was a devoted husband and father and beloved Pepe to his two granddaughters, his pride and joy. He will be sadly missed by his family. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the many health care professionals who supported Dad, Raymond Aubin, Home Care Case Coordinator and the attentive personal home care staff; the Tache Nursing Centre Respite team and, in particular, social worker Nicole Guttormson and Ginette Leclair; Carole Prince and Dr. Ducas from Tache Day Hospital; General Practitioner Dr. Danais-Brown; the dedicated and thoughtful staff of 2 East Maples Personal Care Home and Doctors Cheung and Lebedin and finally, the Seven Oaks Hospital staff of Unit Ten on the third floor and Unit Four of the fifth floor. Many thanks as well to friends and staff at l'Accueil Colombien. Prayers will be held on Thursday, August 25 at 7:00 p.m. at Desjardins Funeral Chapel at 357 rue DesMeurons. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 26 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Edouard Bonin celebrant, at the Saint-Boniface Cathedral, 190 avenue de la Cathedrale with viewing one half hour prior to mass. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the CNIB, provider of support services to Dad during his final years, or to Saint Boniface General Hospital Research Foundation.   • We deeply regret your loss with the passing of Gerard. I have many fond memories of Gerry. He gave us so many rides to school when we we're young.( It was sure appreciated during those cold winter months!) He was always willing to help! I would like to express my deepest sympathy to Helen, Louis, Raymond, and all the family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
