STEPHEN JOHN HRYHORASH August 22, 1922 - August 22, 2005 With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, Stephen John Hryhorash on his 83rd birthday at Concordia Hospital. Left to mourn his loss and cherish his memory are his children, daughter Joan (Curt); sons, Myran and Nick; grandchildren, Jennifer (Larren) and Bryan; great-grandchildren, Marissa and Kyren; brother Norman (Olga); sister Olga Jess in Saskatchewan; and many nieces and nephews in Winnipeg and Newfoundland. Dad was predeceased by loving wife Bernice; parents, John and Katherine; sister Jean and her husband Steve Kosheluk; and brother-in-law Henry Jess. Dad was born and raised in Winnipeg, attending schools in the East Kildonan area. Dad loved his sports, following football and hockey on television. It was not unusual to find Dad watching two televisions at once with a different game on each. Dad was a War Veteran who served with the Canadian Army and was stationed in St. John's, NF where he met the love of his life Bernice Earle. Dad returned to Winnipeg and after eight years he returned to St. John's to be once again reunited with Bernice and soon after they were married. They resided in Winnipeg for a short time before returning to St. John's. After the passing of his wife in 1964, Dad returned to Winnipeg with three young children in tow who he raised as a single parent for the remainder of his life. Dad worked for Canada Post for 26 years retiring in 1986. After retiring Dad kept busy spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved to fish and spend time working in his vegetable garden and flower gardens that were his pride and joy. Dad loved his pigeons and was well known in the area for raising and selling them. In accordance with Dad's wishes cremation has taken place and a funeral service will be held at the Transcona Funeral Chapel, 1800 Day St. on Saturday, August 27 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at the Immaculate Conception Church Main Cemetery next to Grotto in Cooks Creek. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Concordia Hospital 3 East for their care and compassion during Dad's stay. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3G 1S6. Transcona Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements.
