MARIE ONIZAK (nee SCHICK) It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Marie Onizak on Tuesday, August 23, 2005 at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, aged 86 years. Marie will be sadly missed by her son Barry Onizak and his wife Katherine and her daughter Wendy Onizak and her grandchildren, Christopher, Michael, Jeffrey, Steven and Gregory; her sister-in-law Sharon Schick; and several nieces and nephews, all of Winnipeg. Marie was predeceased by her husband Peter in 1978; parents, Frederick in 1964 and Anna-Elizabeth in 1969; her sister Amalia (Molly) Kendel in 1991; and her brothers, Frederick in 1967, Henry in 1983, Ernest in 1992 and Edward in 1998. Born in Winnipeg on November 28, 1918, Marie lived in Winnipeg's North-End on Powers Street and worked at Eatons for several years. In September of 1954 she married Peter Onizak residing most of their years in North Kildonan where they raised their son and daughter. Marie was a loving and patient daughter, sister, wife and mother, spending much time caring for her ailing parents even after her marriage. After she and her family moved to Roselawn Bay and her brothers Henry and Ernie moved in across the street, Marie would often go shopping or to the flower nursery with Ernie. After a few years on her own, Marie moved to her final place of residence at River East Personal Care home in the spring of 1999. We would like to thank the care givers at River East Personal Care home, especially the staff in the Courage Bay neighborhood ( E Wing) and the nurses at the Seven Oaks Hospital unit 2c on the 5th floor. Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 26 at 2:00 p.m. with viewing one hour prior to the service at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. No. 1 East at Navin Road. Interment to follow in Green Acres Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, Unit 10, Mezzanine, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2.
